I was born in January 1954, so I am a full-fledged baby-boomer. Since I can remember
my father told me, even with all the advantages I had, I would amount to nothing.
After Tom Browkal wrote his book about "The Greatest Generation," I could not even talk with my father. Full of bravado, my father said "The Greatest Generation" followed by the "Worst
Generation."
I don’t know if you believe in a Hereafter, but I will be damned that my Generation will be blamed for helping this country to enter the infernal regions. You can hate Bush all you want, replace him with somebody that will do something, the world is looking scary, and we need somebody that will accomplish something, not feather his or her nest.
I would vote for Franklin Roosevelt because he was a Democrat with a heart, but also he would bomb the enemies of this country, not have a discussion about their intentions. The Democrats at one time had a lock on this country, but today most of them would not recognize the real leaders we had in the past. Harry Truman told Japan that we would keep dropping the bomb on every city until they totally capitulated. Who today in what party would have the guts to say that.
The country won WWII not because we were better, but because we had the right leaders at the right time. "The Greatest Generation" won the war, not because of their sacrifice for the effort, but because they had leaders who would not accept less.
